  • Compac tablets are a carrageenan product (Irish moss) added to the boiling wort to increase protein removal as the wort cools. The tablets may be crushed, but this does not make them less effective. If the tablets are crumbled, use about 0.75g/23L of wort (or as much as fits on the end of a teaspoon).

    Advantages

    - Tablet form for easy use.
    - 5-10% more efficient than competitive products.
    - Increases the rate of fermentation and attenuation.
    - A clearer wort is obtained, reducing the use of clarifying agents that may be needed later.
    - A natural product that removes a large amount of turbidity without affecting the stability of the beer foam.

1/4 tablet is for approximately 23 L of wort. Put in the pot for 15 minutes. until the end of boiling the wort. If the tablets are crumbled, use about 0.75g/23L of wort (or as much as fits on the end of a teaspoon).
